Well don't this take the cake. Grrr!

I have joined the ranks of those who are spammed ....

... on my PHONE!!!

Thank you Telus, for making it FREE for anyone to send me messages from anywhere, but making me PAY to RECEIVE this crap!

Bloody outrageous!

Clarify please.

Text messaging on his cell phone

Quinn 04-16-2004 02:43 AM

I haven't started getting the phone spam yet but it doesn't suprise me at all. Any digital medium, really... I wonder if Telus is being payed off or if it's true spam?

On that note, I'm considering moving from Pay and Talk to a plan. Will probably switch to Bell as well, they seem to have some good deals on right now.

From what I understand Telus trys to block that stuff (cough cough)
and if you report it they will attempt to block it.

It's worth a try anyway, Plus I think they will remove any charges

Actually, Telus wont refund the charges. And when my friend complained, they told him to shove it (possibly a bit more politely tho :)

I find it humourous that soon as telus implemented their anti-spam software for dsl, people starting getting spam UNLESS they had the telus anti spam software in place... Kinda fishy....

Doesn't surprise me. As I recall, AOL got nailed with similar accusations a few years ago (luckily that particular ISP seems to have essentially died anyway). Canada needs to hurry the heck up and get some serious anti-spam legislation in. It's costing us way too much.

actualy they will, if they get rude, or you just are not getting anywhere, ask for there name/employ number, then ask to talk to the supervisor. if they got rude when you called explain that you don't appreciate being talked to rudely and what the problem is and what you want them to do.

I had to do this after getting nowhere with them over roaming charges from the US which were from me calling from Victoria to Victoria. also I have a few friends that have had to do this all with success.

I'll give Telus a call and see what they say about this...

I have yet to use the text messaging feature ... I was shocked when I saw how easy it is to send a text message to a Telus subscriber (http://www.telusmobility.com/sendame...amessage.shtml) and that anybody with web access can do it for free... If this trend continues I will drop the subscription to the text messaging without hesitation. It's not like I use the feature. What's worse, the one time I tried to send a message from my phone, it didn't work! That figures.

On the other hand, maybe I should call that number to claim my Carribbean cruise .... does it come with any free Viagra too??

LostMind 04-16-2004 06:21 AM

Hmmm. TXT messaging is good. I rely on it a lot.

As for viagra... man, honestly, I must get over 200 spams per day about viagra. I am 26 people! I DONT NEED NO STINKING VIAGRA!

hehehe.
