Where to buy Aluminum Channel

I have recently moved to Kenora, ON and im trying like crazy to find 1" aluminum U channel for my LED build.

All the local stuff around here is 1/16" or 1/8" thickness and the stuff ive found online costs a fortune!!

Does anyone know where i can find any in Winnipeg or online for relatively cheap?

Im looking idealy for 1"x1"x1/4"

Thanks in advance,

VR

Princess Auto in Winnipeg would probably be a good start.

Check for a local metals supermarket. Best prices Ive found. Second best would be princess auto. Pretty much everything you are going to find is 1/8"

Is there a Canadian Tire there? Or Home Depot. Both of them here have U, L, and flat in aluminum and steel.

really? Neither of my local CT's or home depot has anything other than some over priced L in 2 foot chunks, no U

I highly doubt that you will be able to find 1x1x1/4"

Try an electrical supply company. They use aluminum channel to mount wiring and such.

I bought all my U-channel at a machine shop. They cut it and cleaned it up and I paid half of what I would have at Princess Auto. One of my pieces was even 1" x 4" x 3/8". Check out your local machineworks. They can bring it in for sure (probably 8' pieces and will cut for you).

How much do you need?

Steve's LED (http://shop.stevesleds.com/Bare-Heatsink-Tubing_c17.htm) uses marine grade T6063 Aluminum.... I believe it should be about $3/ ft....I am sure any local metalworks place can get it for ya...
