how big?

Sea-swirls are nice to have but Tunze's will provide what you need in your new tank. Did you decided on 180g?

Keep in mind you need to buy a pump and plumbing supplies to run a Sea-swirl.

Which model of Tunze would you go for? and 1 or 2?

they are really two different effects and in my opinion don't do the same thing at all. the tunze creates a large gentle current effect, where the sea swirl creates a random type blast simulating wave action as it goes back and forth across a reef somewhat.

if you can only afford one to start I would go with the tunze first.

I like the Tunze Turbelle myself. currently running two Ts24 in the 500 gallon and I will adding another two Ts24. They are running for a year and half with no problems yet, I haven't even clean or touch them since I put them in.

it'll be a 180 6x2x2
my initial thought was to get an ampmaster pump and run two 1" sea swirls or the ts/4 kit which comes with two 6100 streams which is almost the same price and 1 mag 18or24 to run on a closed loop system

any thoughts?

temperature wise, how does the tunze streams do? do they heat up quite a bit?

Jack 04-10-2004 05:13 AM

I didn't notice any heat from them at all when I had mine. Nothing more than a regular powerhead I would think.. but other people might have better opinions.

Definatly go for the stream kits, IMO.

yeah right now i'm leaning towards the streams
with the ampmaster n two seaswirls though as a return from the sump to the main i think it would be a nice turn over rate
