Mazzei Skimmer Project

Well this week I finally start on my skimmer. With my stand hopefully to be done this week I figured I better get started on my skimmer so I can get it up and running.

Nothing great yet, but here's some pics of the material so far:

6" dia cast tubing, which is 20" long. I figure I'll cut it at 14" (for the riser) and leave 6" for the collection cup (or is that too big?). The smaller tube is 3" dia extruded, which is about 12" long. I may leave it just like that, with 3" in the collection cup (or is that too long?).

Other stuff is some 6-1/2" Orings, and some 1/2" and 5/8" peices that will be used for various stuff ;). I'll be running a 584 mazzei injector with a Mag5. We'll see how that works, and if needed, will increase the pump. I'm trying to see if I can get away from using a big pump on the skimmer.

More pics to follow shortly...

Well I finally got around to starting SOME work on my skimmer. Of course nowhere close to completion, but with all the PM's, and a few emails, I figured I'd post a very limited updated, instead of waiting till I'm done (as we know it may be weeks from now!)

Above is a picture of the skimmer base. Used .65" thick acrylic for it. Still need to finish tapping it (only started the threads on the CNC), and I need to finish milling the bottom for the leg mounts (which I may skip, because I kinda like the look of it as it is).

You'll notice the 6.5" o-ring in the pic, and probably wonder why at the bottom. I am designing a cone to fit inside the cylinder (near the top) so to be able to clean out the inside of the cylinder, I need to access it from the bottom.

More pics to come shortly!

Nothing so far. I've taken about 5-6 weeks off work to finish off my private license, so I haven't had a chance to work on it yet.
