Cooling Tank Without Chiller
for us in edmonton that only get a week or 2 of actual hot weather a year, if you dont have a chiller I've been using frozen water bottles and floating them in my sump to keep the water temp down.
|
I've installed a computer fan over my QT, controlled by RKL
Working great DT system has a chiller as the house hits 85+ every summer ( it's 84 inside right now ) |
This heat is how you kill a Canadian. We can handle pretty much anything else mother nature throws at us ;)

Ya I just posted about this right before. Yes the water bottles is a good idea! I also put a tall house fan overtop with the lid open. I should look into a computor fan. I'm also in Alberta. How do you guys in Ontario deal with this I heard its 40 degrees there!
|
Reversing your lighting schedule and running large fans across the water surface will do much more than floating ice packs. Surprising how well the fans work.

With the temp in my office @ 81-85, the one 120mm fan keeps the QT cool Lots of evap, but it works just fine |
Heat
Got home yesterday and tank was a nice 84 degrees, in a 10g nano it's a pain in the a$$ to keep the temp Down, but I put a huge fan right beside it and so far so good. My green bay packers zoas took a hit though they are closed and look like they are melting away

im running all LEDs. they dont put much, if any heat into the tank.

I've had good luck with pointing a small fan at the top of the tank to move the heat away from the Halides, and evaporate water =)
