This tank has 2 SE 250w phoenix bulbs and 1 20k radium bulb.....can you tell which is which?

Interesting. I do run a electronic ballast so maybe this pushes the bulb harder turning it more white than blue.

electronics usually under drive a bulb...making it more blue.

Its going to be too tough to compare though photographs IMO. Plus each bulb and ballast combo can light a bulb differently. You should see in person someone with a eballast and 20k bulb and see if you like it. But remember not all 20k bulbs are the same too.

All 3 ballasts are HQI but with single ended bulbs, I was amazed at how blue the phoenix bulbs were

Because I didn't have a spare, I'm actually running a 15K on one side of my tank and a 20K on the other of a 4' tank. You can really see the difference. 20K is too blue in my opinion and you really lose the shimmer effect you get with the 15K. I'll try and get a pic today once the lights come on for you.

Agreed. Photos are useless. Each camera will capture the color differently, and each screen will show it differently. And most 20k bulbs will look a bit different, and which ballast also affects it. If you run a 15k beside a 20k, the 20k will look too blue. If you replace the 20k with a 10k, the 15k will look too blue :) If you then use all 20k, you'll wonder if it's blue enough -lol

The only real way to see it is to find a tank running 20k and visit in person.
