What are these??

I have to little creatures in my tank that I can not identify.

The first is attached to the underside of the rock and puts out some kind of slim web. In the video you can see him doing his work by retracting some of the web. http://i1185.photobucket.com/albums/...DSCF2331-1.jpghttp://i1185.photobucket.com/albums/...DSCF2325-1.jpg

The second is a free moving little guy that has grown tons since I first saw him. I am not sure what he is eating, in the past month he seems to have stopped getting bigger. Today I caught him releasing sperm into the water flow. http://i1185.photobucket.com/albums/...DSCF2339-1.jpghttp://i1185.photobucket.com/albums/...DSCF2340-1.jpg
Can anyone confirm that the above is a Stomatella Varia like this one:http://i1185.photobucket.com/albums/...tellaVaria.jpg

Neither of these animals seems to be hurting the fish or corals. I am just wondering what they are?

both are snails i believe the first being vermatid snails and the second being stomatella snails.the first is a bit of a pain but imo harmless and the second is harmless and reproduces quite often in home aquaria:)

Thanks for the quick reply!
Just one more question though, what makes vermatid snails "a bit of a pain"?

Thanks

The gross snotty web they cast out. It's not a nice sight.

Yes their web can irritate corals, they are not pretty to look at and can multiply quickly. I would remove them now while there is only a couple of them.

Yuck the creatures that we bring home eh... Looks like its Escargot for supper tonight.

I was thinking of removing the vermatid snail, especially considering I pretty sure I only have one in my tank. Gotta get him now while the population is low. I really hate the slim web!
I researched the stomatella snail and it seems like they are beneficial, grazing on micro algae and helping to keep things clean. They sure are fast movers!
Anyway thanks for all the input everyone. Looks like I will be doing some exterminating tonight.
