fragging wall hammer
 

I bought a wall hammer about week ago and it was in good condition in the store, fully opened, etc.. On the next day after I brought hammer home it got some kind of infection, brown jelly or similar and start dyeing. I tried iodine bath for few days but nothing helped, so yesterday decided to cut sick part off and try to save a colony. From the damaged part I cut two small pieces just to make an experiment it see if small frags can survive.

I know almost nobody frags wall hammer, so want to share my experience and will post updates here. I will try to make some pics later today.

If the hammer is healthy. It'll survive. I snap mine in half in the past. Both still growing today.

I always just toss brown jelly infected corals, I've seen it spread before many times but haven't seen much recover from it so I never figure it's worth while to risk the spread unless you quarantine.

I saved duncan and branching torch when only one head was infected.

I fragged up a wall anchor I had because of brown jelly, it may have gotten stung by something at night because it was fine then one day brown jelly on one side, couple days later it had spread to over half the coral, I had nothing to lose by fragging it because if I didn't them I would lose the whole thing, today the coral has healed and is almost the same size as the original piece I had.

It should do well!
