Algea ID. Please

I notice this growing on a frag I recently purchased. Not sure if its a nussiance or not.
It grows close to rock branching out with little mushroom head type heads. I picked all I could see off and my tang was plucking the stray heads from water colomn.

Looks like a type of caulerpa. If so get it out.

I picked out as much as I could see. It's not growing quick so I hope I can be rid of it

Augghhh. That's all I need. I guess I'll do my best.

Any critters that's eat it

daplatapus 06-29-2012 04:31 AM

I've got some emerald crabs that will peck at it, but certainly not enough to keep it under control. I think I have finally been able to manually remove all mine, but time will tell.

reefwars 06-29-2012 04:51 AM

Yellow tang eats mine its easy to remove manually just grows fast and the roots get in between coral and rock crevices :)

I've got a purple tang on the job and have removed all visible signs.
