Recovery after tank crash.

Recently something got into my tank and I lost everything except the fish. I have been doing water changes like crazy for the last month in an effort to get everything ready to rebuild. I am now starting to wonder if I should be cleaning the sand and live rock and was wondering what to do. should I completely strip the tank and start from scratch? What is the normal procedure after a tank crash?

Depends on what got in there. Did you use Kent carbon recently?

the tank is probably going to cycle and if its been a month it probably already has .Have you been testing ammonia? It will tell you whats going on .If you strip the tank its going to cycle again and will be a big pain if you have fish already . If ammonia is at zero theres no problem.

Big carbon recall. Contact Kent if you'd like some compensation.

Would a live rock rinse be wise to get any remaining dead coral/debris off?
