Anyone else's RKL clock run fast?

I know this is such a minor issue.
I don't know if I should send it in for warranty or not.
I set both my RKL and RKE last month and the RKL is already running 3 mins fast while the RKE is keeping almost perfect time.

( here come the DA bashers  )

I had the same problem and I had to exchange it twice within a few months. It was getting faster by 5 minutes every week. Jeff at J&L told me at that time, do not let any cords ... like metal halide ballast cord, etc ... run across the controller because its very sensitive and it can pick up things like that. If you read in the manual it is also mentions like Jeff said to me. Since I removed it to a seperate area, I never have a problem anymore.

Thanks Casey, I'll try moving some cords around.
It's currently lying on the floor controlling my liverock rubbermaid. Maybe it's due to all the cables I had just lying everywhere ...

So I just moved the cables around and we'll see how it does.

Have you tried to update the firmware

gregzz4 04-10-2012 02:09 AM

I updated all the gear when I first brought it home.
I also found that when I plug in the moonlight controller, it changes the iTemp readings slightly. Not a concern there as the moonlights will be on the RKE, but I will send an e-mail to J&L if the clock runs fast again.

Anyone else have issues like this?

Induced voltage can screw with all kinds of sensative electronice an mh can produce alot . I would definitaly try and distance it from them for sure .

I agree with this
I have done my best to route all the cables now
We'll see what the next few weeks show

I had an issue with mine, I was able to adjust it via the leap second function that's built in.

Would you elaborate on this please?
