this little guy just showed up one day on the bottom of a frag disk carrying acans. i havnt seen it open up so really have no idea what it could be? it has moved itself about 3/4 of an inch, looks like its trying to avoid the light? will see if i can get a larger picture? thanx

could be a type of sponge.

do sponges move? as far as i know (which isnt much), nems are the only things that have the ability to just get up and move? also it seems to b avoiding the light. maybe it will open up at night? definately looks like its just all closed up.

Try to position the rock so that it feels secure enough to open but yet you still have good access to view. Yeah, if its moving around, it probably isn't a sponge.

definitely not a sponge  it kind of looks green so if your lucky it could be a bubble tip or if your unlucky a majano

maybe some sort of mushroom? those guys can get up and go can they not?
|
so im pretty sure the id is a mushroom? but he crawled around the frag disk and is now situated in/under my acans. do the mushrooms sting? is he ok in there or should i be trying to get this thing out? personally i dont want him there anyway, but im not sure how to go about moving it in the first place? any help would be appreciated. thanks.

not 100% sure. I know my ricordea stung my acan and nearly wiped it out. I wasnt aware that they would do that. since separating them, its come back strong |

so i moved this "thing" off my acans and into a different tank. "thing" moved around for a while, now there is two. one closed right up on the frag disk where "thing" ended up, and the original just floating around my tank. still wont really open up fully that i have seen. it doesnt look like my other mushroom hitchhicker either, so still unsure of the proper id? here is a pic of the two that i have now... help IDing this "thing" would still be greatly appreciated.
idk why photobucket wouldnt work? |
