J&L had several varieties when I was there three weeks ago.

J&L can special order them in if you know what you want...sometimes King Ed gets some in as well.

Some I got/wanted are:

corky, golden sea rod, purple ribbon gorg, purple gorg.... others, which in my opinion are nicer looking are unfortunately non-photosynthetic and require feeding. Also, you can bring ( eg order them from USA )them in without CITES if you are adventurous if they are of carribean kinds. Good luck with sourcing them....

I have 6 different photo gorgs...they are awesome. My favourites are the Purple Ribbon, Citron, and Purple Frilly. The Purple Frilly grows really fast.

If you can't get them locally, The Reef Shoppe in Lloydminster, AB gets in quite a great array of photo gorgs at really good prices. That is where I got all of mine. He can ship them to you.

Purple Frilly AKA, Purple Brush Gorg is easy. I like mine also. It barely grew until the last few months.... and I had it since Denny was in town (it was his).

Looks cool, but due to my Coral Beauty picking on it, it only opens early in the day or at night. But I love it. You see them everywhere in the Caribbean and I had to have one for sentimental reasons. LOL.

Good luck.

Ive been looking for frags for a long time too.

You should try Anthony (seahorse fanatic) if you're looking to go the "frags from fellow hobbyist" route. I got a couple from him last year (or maybe the year before, I can't remember). He has some gorgeous ones

Myka 02-12-2012 09:59 PM

A lot of photo gorgs are very slow growers so frags will often remain frags forever. My Purple Ribbon is a fine example...I have had it for over a year and I do not see any noticeable growth.

Seahorse eh? I believe I have dealt with him before :) A frag for me only needs to be about 4-6 inches, not the 12 inch ones they sell. Too big for my tank.
....
sorry for the hijack.

Thanks for the replies!

The gorgs at the lfs I've seen were, imo, too expensive for what were not-very-nice gorgs.

I think I've found some with a member here but if you've got some, send me a pm.
