Life is like that

So my car is revving on me in 3rd and 4th, but it only happens occasionally. So I make an appointment for the end of the week and the tell me 150.00 to diagnose. I book the appointment all the while thinking it won't happen to them and I will be stuck with the bill still. So 1 day before my appointment my check engine light comes on. Well that's no good, but at least they should be able to find the problem now.

So they call me all excited saying they figured out the problem and it's only 1600.00 for a new fuel pump. Yeah great. Well at least my car will be fixed. So they call me a few hours later to tell me my car is ready, but while they were testing it they noticed my car was revving. I was like no @!I?. They say oh that is your flywheel and clutch that needs to be replaced at the low cost of 3200.00. So I can't afford that so I tell them to hold off.

So in conclusion, I bring my car into the dealer to fix something and they fix something else and charge me 1600.00 and I still have my problem.

Life sucks sometimes.

Crappy deal, typically your revs will cut out in the high range when your fuel pump is going. If your clutch is slipping then it likely needs to be replaced but the flywheel is usually fine and can usually even be machined if it needs anything. $3200 is steep for a clutch job, $1500 is probably about average. $1600 for a fuel pump is even worse though. What kind of car?

Its a mazdaspeed 6. I read somewhere that it is some sort of double flywheel or something that can't be machined. Not sure, but they kept saying that the turbo charged vehicle costs more to fix. I am going to look around for the clutch repair.

Sorry to hear that! Those clutches of the Mazdaspeed 6 are a crappy job to do, thus the evil price.

As for the bringing it in and coming out with two bills -

You brought it in for two problems, and unfortunately got the rough end of the stick with two different estimates for repair.

Check engine light = Fuel Pump - problem # 1
Reving in 3rd and 4th = Clutch - problem # 2

Two issues, and two repairs required. Can't see how thats the dealers fault?

Lol, I never said it was the dealer's fault I merely said that I went in because of one issue and ended up down a lot of money and that issue never even got fixed. I had assumed the check engine light and the revving were related but I have no idea I am not a mechanic. The irony is what gets me.

Yeah I suppose it's murphy's law! Some day I would like to find that Murphy guy and whoop him up real good
