Eheim Pump Plumbing

I'm sure a lot of you are running Eheim pumps and I was wondering how you married the barbed fitting on the pump to your PVC plumbing? Descriptions with pictures would be helpful. Thanks!

Tagging along

I haven't plumbed mine yet, but my plan was to use close nipples with lots of thread sealant, and then reducing females to my true union ball valve on the sump side and a regular union on the output side.
I'll tag along too to see what others use.

That barbed fitting should fit into 1" spa-flex PVC.

The factory sizes for the 1260 and 1262 are 1" input and 3/4" output.
Those dimensions are for I.D. hose.
Spaflex and such are measured by the O.D. of the rigid PVC used, so not a good match.

Hmm, maybe my 1262 came with a different adapter, because it fits perfectly into the 1" spa-flex I use.

Easy, use a section of vinyl hose from the barb on the pump to a Spigot-Slip adapter like these:

The vinyl hose is a good idea anyway as it helps to isolate the pump's vibrations from the rest of the plumbing.

Agreed, but it's nicer to use spaflex as there is no need for hose clamps

1262

For 1262's you can use a 3/4 male to female PVC piece . I then use a link of 3/4 spa flex to get rid of any vibration despite there being pretty much none.
