euro brace questions

question numero one:

how wide should glass be as to reduce flex on a 6x2x2 tank

question numero 2

if i take 2-2x2 foot pane's of glass and cut a hole in the middle putting each on each end of tank with a chunk between the two on front pane would that be enough to stop the tank from flexing.

i wish to rid myself of the center brace and have a centre overflow with keeping all plumbing working from the middle if possible.

If you go 3" x how ever thick the tank is you will be just fine without the center brace. I am going with 3/4" x 4" on my 8' 300 gal.

this is how i would brace it if i dont break too many 2x2 panels trying to cut it out

You'd be fine just using the 2 pieces acting as cross bracing at the 1/3 and 2/3 marks...

It's the same as using two cross braces, and single braces hardly ever break loose, so I'd think you'd be double protected.

How do you cut a square hole into a pane of glass? When they cut glass, they score and snap.

the 90 deg corners in the cutouts i suspect would be serious risks for cracking no?
