Fluidises bed filter

Has anyone ever used a Lifegard Fluidized Bed Filter

Yup I have. My advise to you is put a shut off between the pump and the unit so you can close it off when its cleaning time. Otherwise it will siphon the sand out the unit. Other wise no problems here.

I have one but never used it. I was told it does a very good job of creating nitrates. Keeps and colonizes the beneficial bacteria because of the large surface area. Old bacteria is sloughed off and just healthy bacteria is left.

I understand its more for freshwater than salt.
The LR is supposed to do the same job, except better.

Daveycoopa, its working good in salt for you? Maybe I should put mine in service.

K thanks I was wondering about nitrates.

I haven't run it on my new tank but did on my old tank. Not sure on the nitrate thing but it would be worth a try and see.
