Bored + SketchUP = AWESOME!!
Hey guys so this is what happens when i get up early and have nothing to do in the hours before work, basically its a culmination of everything I would ever do if i was to build an entire system.
its 12 feet long 6 feet tall on the stand (4 foot of tank) and 5 feet wide at its widest, one solid seamless piece of acrylic and yes that is a surfboard with LED's in it haha http://i161.photobucket.com/albums/t...ntDropOff2.jpg http://i161.photobucket.com/albums/t...tDropOff-1.jpg |
Time well spent looks like fun lol. Vertex alpha won't cut it tho back to the drawing board ;)
|
hahaha its the only one in the components list that looked any good
|
Thats super gnarly man ;) Awesome awesome awesome build me one haha jk

Sweet. But just wondering who's the cyber "babe" you added in the sketch? Your future wife or gf?
|
hahaha she comes with the archatectural grid when you select the type of model you want to build. I guess they use her as a visual reference to things.
Gotta say though she dose have a pretty provocative pose going on there :pop2::eyebrows::loco: |
Saw that in that other thread and was sort of surprised by the lack of gooshing comments, glad to see you posted it again. :)
LOVE this. The surfboard is a nice touch, haha. Not sure what to think of the oval shaped tank though. The theory of it looks absolutely awesome but I wonder about the long-term practicality of it. Harder to keep clean, you get weird distortions when looking at things that are not directly in front of you, and so on. Problem with going with acrylic though is I don't think you can get an open top like that. |
Do Want!

Lol, like the tank. if you get really bored check out the light up addon for sketchup. You can simulate lights, and import spec's from current bulb, LED's, etc. It can show a Lux reading everywhere it projects to, or just modeled pictures showing the lit area's.
anyways... 1 month free trial, give you one month of crack for aquarium planning in sketchup. |

I think that the acrylic would support and open top but i think i would have to use a massive eurobrace with perhaps a cross brace or two in it. I don't think it would have to be enclosed fully otherwise you wouldn't be able to put anything in it. |
