Where do all canadian get LR from
 

Just want to see where all us Canadians get our LR from. Do you guys order it online, import it from the US, or buy it at your LFS?
and how much do you pay per lbs? How is it shipped and how much does it cost?

Also where do the online and LFS get there shippments from?

I get mine from J&L, the LFS or sometimes the classified section of the paper. I pay between $1 & $10/pound, depending on my mood. If I see a nice rock at the LFS, I'll pay the 10. The last large batch I bought was ~160lbs for $140.
If I was going to start a new tank and needed rock now, I would order from J&L @ $4.39/lb and have it shipped by bus for $20.

The online and LFS dealers get it from various suppliers in volume.

I've just started out. I bought 12lbs from JL, a few from Big Als, and lately been buying it from Fin-omenal, because it looks the best.

I myself get all of my live rock from Big Al's, but if others know of a place in the GTA area of TOronto it'd be greatly appreciated as having more than 1 place to go for marine stuff would be a great help.

I don't want you to think I'm sending you away, because the eastern presence on this board is lacking, but there are probably some people on http://aquariacanada.com/ who could direct you to other stores in the GTA. And of course there's always the option of mail-ordering from retailers on the west coast.

Thanks for the feedback, I've called around to a few places out in the vancouver area, but it's so expensive in shipping costs although the costs of all of their stuff is so much cheaper than it is here.

Maybe I should start up a Saltwater outfit where I am as there is nothing.
Not a bad business idea hehe

I use the AC site all the time. Some of the shopping pages aren't as clear as the might be, but the service from Ivan and the discussion on the forum are great.

For LR, go to 'shopping/showcase/other'. He has Vanuatu LR.

If you join the discussion forum, you can post directly and ask for advice. If there are specific problems you are having with the board, post them or PM to Ivan and I'm sure they will be addressed.
