WTT ... Mag 18 for Mak 4
 

As the title says I am looking to trade a Mag 18 for a Mak 4 or equivalent ( they retail for about the same $$ )

What is a Mak 4 rated? I have a mag12 I would love to trade for a mag 18.

Hey Mike ... rated in GPH about the same as your Mag 12 but the Mak 4 is a pressure rated pump which is what I am looking for. ( it is for my Beckett Skimmer )

I have a Mak 4 for sale http://www.canreef.com/phpBB2/viewtopic.php?t=7878 It works well with a becket skimmer, which is what I bought it for, but I found it too loud. I am selling it to buy a CSL Velocity T4. Many people do run there beckets on Mag 12's. If you're interested in buying make me an offer.

Hey Lance ... I can buy it new from J&L for 198.50 and if I spend 1.50 more I get free shipping ... not sure how much shipping is but it would probably be close to the same as a new one ... what ideally works for me is a trade because I have no use for the Mag 18 once I get the Mak 4 ... thanks for the offer

Clinton ... I am looking for a little stronger pump than that particular LG ( 850 GPH I believe whereas the Mak 4 is 1190 GPH ) ... again thanks for the offer but not really what I am after

The Mag 18 has a shut off of 21 feet and the Mak 4's shut off is 22 feet. so the Mag is just about as 'pressure rated' as the mak 4. i'd stick with the Mag. IMHO

nope
the shut off has nothing to do with pressur rating.. what you have to look at is how fast the output drops off as head pressure increases.
