how to clean a powerhead?
I've got a powerhead that i use for mixing water change water. Now it's covered in a brown calcium. What's a good easy way to clean it?

A vinegar soak will work, or, for something stronger, a product called EZ Clean made by Deltec works very well.
|
i let mine run in an old salt bucket with like a 50 50 mix of water vinegar quick toothbrush scrub after and they look brand new
|
+1 on the vinegar/water.
|
I would go with the vinegar bath running for few minutes.
Or a much stronger acid if you have allot of calcium buildup I use hydrocloric or moriatic acid mixed in water and done outside as you shouldn't enjoy any of the fumes..your power head will look and feel new. |
I use full strength vinegar
It's cheap, readily available everwhere and works very well. Reuse it for a few days then dump it down the drain. |
+1 with the others... Vinegar bath, you can do vinegar/water, but straight vinegar will clean it quickly.
I clean all my powerheads on a regular basis. Vinegar/water bath (mostly vinegar) for a few days, then it just washes clean without any scrubbing. I would then normally soak in clean water for a day to make sure all vinegar is gone. |
