Leather coral

I was able to pick up a Leather Coral today but it was not attached to any rock. I have placed it in a hole on some rock but need advice on where to place it. It is laying sideways somewhat but seems to be happy as its openning up. Thanks for any advice

Marcus, as long as its not getting kicked around it will attach. Remember if its between several rocks, it will attach to them all.

I use to attach frags with a needle and mono fishing line.

Elastic band always works for me.

Yes, I use them also. One thing to watch for when using any restrictive attachment, like elastics or fishing line, is cutting of the coral as growth starts. Best to cut off the line, as soon as the coral is attached.

Doug , if you leave it on too long you get two corals. But your right you the coral should be attached after 4-5 days, take whatever you use off as soon as you can.

I had a hard time trying to post a pic so I did on ReefCentral. I was told that its not a colt and that it is a Toadstool? Can you guys have a look and tell me what you think? Please have a look at the brown stuff too.

Not sure on the bron stuff, it's definately a coral just not sure what. You could take the polys off the one side and mount them and turn the "brown stuff upright. To mount the polyps you can use Krazy glue. And yes that is a toadstool, i have one just like it just larger.
