have you ever had the sound of glass breaking stuck in your head?

so after drilling my tank (dual corner overflow and 2 returns along top), painting it, plumbing it, and getting everything set up, i went to move the tank into the house and whamo.... shattered the side pane....

time to look for a new tank and start over... hopefully i can get my corner overflow out to reuse it

Man that sucks ! :(

Ouch.. You may not need a whole new tank. If it was just one pane of glass that broke perhaps look into replacing it. Would be much cheaper. Could even do it yourself.

Agree with Kien, just replacing the side pane wouldn't be too bad. The worst part of replacing panes is taking the broken pieces off and cleaning up the edges.

That sucks. Luckly it was m t. Last time I heard that noise my tank was full

Aquattro 09-18-2011 02:44 PM

I would also look into replacing the one piece, way cheaper and pretty easy to do yourself.

That sucks  definitely not a sound you want to have stuck in your head.

Ugh! I feel your pane (har har). I broke two tanks this week...luckily just a 10 and a 20.

When cutting the silicone (either to remove the overflow or remove the broken pane) use fine wire and use it like tooth floss down the seam. Cuts real well although you will probably break the wire a few times, so get lots.

Guitar string works really well and less likely to break.

Ya, but they aren't as cheap. I should invest in some good guitar strings though. Har har.
