Best way to keep cal and alk at good lvls
Im looking at getting some kind of doser that will do both calcium and alkalinity at the same time. Is there such a product? and hopefully not a million dollars lol. some kind of drip? 2 in 1 product?
|
nope......unfortunately you get what you pay for with most things in this hobby......if ya do some googling around and reading you with find that all makes regardless of price have had issues........but I will wager that you will find the least complaints about the profilux line of dosers
|
besides.....dosing calcium and alk at the same time will likely cause precipitation.....they need to be spread out.....
|
hmmmm
is there not product that has both in one? i thought i was reading something like that but i cant find info on it anymore. maybe 2 bottles just hung upside down with drip valves installed over my sump. Anyone have a suggestion on the product to use

Well Mr Fishytime himself used to employ the 'cup with hole in bottom' line of dosers and the tank was incredible. Many ways to dose! I also use the Profilux and love the thing.

Ive used aqua medic dosers for 2 years with no problems but seems on here people arnt fans of them

been using this product for about 3 mths with no issues 3 pumps sets at different times and pumps up to 16 different intervals of max 0.6ml/min I dose Calcium Chloride Magnesium Sulfate mixed with Magnesium Chloride and the last pump Soda Ash |
Hi,
I have a used set up for sale. PM'd you. Cheers, Tim |
How big is your tank, and what is your consumption? You might be best using a 2 part solution added manually.

The way I maintain my cal, alk, and mag levels as well as amino acid and carbon dosing is to add it all to my top off water. I mix each one in a 1g jug until it dissolved then I add the cal and mag, 2g of water, then the alk, aminos and vodka. I have never had any solution persipiation or other issues. By doing it this way I save on doser pumps. All I did was figure out how much my tank evaps in a week as well as how much cal, alk and mag it uses in a week. It takes care of its self
