hitchicker crabs
I saw 2 of them this morning. One was large(1 1/4") brown and hairy. It looked like it was eating a hermit crab or snail. The other was smaller same basic discription but was eating algae. Anyone ID them. Should I try to catch them to get rid of them or let them be?

Re: hitchicker crabs
Here's an old thread on bad crabs:

Crab
I checked out that last link you posted, I feel sorry for the little guy. Tossed in a baggy and smashed with a rock. Wouldn't a crab like that be alright in a sump or something. Every crab needs a home. If anyone has any crabs that need a home send them my way I'll find a home for them.

Re: Crab
Yes, the rock method caused quite a controversy. Several people stepped forward and took subsequent red eyed crabs after I caught them. At the time of the rock incident, no one wanted the crab and neither did I :frown:

hmmm better than when I catch them.. I just rip there back shells off while there alive, cut them in half and rinse the guts out under the tap. then I drop them in to a steaming pot of water with a little garlic and lemmon.
