Bracing Advice Please
I picked up a 48"x24"x24" (120 gallon) aquarium for a great price. While rinsing it with my pressure washer, I noticed that pockets of water formed under the silicone in several parts of the corner fillet. http://www.reefcentral.com/forums/im.../headwalls.gif
So, I decided to reseal the tank. I currently have the plastic top brace (broken) removed and I have stripped out the corner and bottom seals, making sure not to damage the seal between the panes. I plan to add glass euro & cross bracing on top and I was wondering, before I apply the new RTV, should I consider interior eurobracing on the bottom? Would there be significant benefit? How would I go about this? Your thoughts? |
You shouldn't need to brace the bottom but if you want to be on the safe side all you need is some 10 mm glass 1/8" shorter them the inside of the tank & about 4" wide. Reseal the inside of the tank, let set, then apply silicone to the brace, set in tank & fill the edges.
