Wiring a Workhorse 7 ballast to a single 48" T5 fluores

Hello

I just received my Workhorse 7 ballast, 48" T5 actinic fluorescent and end caps and was wondering how I wire this baby up. There are 4 red wires and 1 yellow wire coming out of the end of the ballast. What wires should go where?

Thanks,

Andy

if you look at the red wires they are in pairs, take one pair and go to one end of a boul, take the other pair and to to the end of the other bulb. then you have to go from the oposit ends and conect with the yellow.

Steve

I have just one 48" actinic. Are you assuming I have 2. I am not clear on this.

Thanks,

Andy

oh ok.. you only use 2 wires for one t5. sorry I was assuming two bulbs

Do I use one red and one yellow as in this diagram from the Fulham web site. http://www.fulham.com/NewFiles/wire15.gif
What do I do with the other wires. When I wire the black and white wires to a grounded extension cord does it matter what wire the black and white go to. On the extension cord, both non-ground wires are white.

Thanks again.

ok is your t5 a normal or a HO. (hook it up with one wire and see how it is) as for the black wires yes it matters, do black to black and white to white.. green is ground. the reason it matters is that in house wiring code the white wire is commen and it goes to the bigger of the two flat conductors on the end of the plug.

Hi Steve

Yes the bulb is HO actinic from Germany. It is a 54 W bulb from Stephane in Montreal. Do you think it might need more than 2 wires. Which 2 wires should I use. Does it matter.

Use one wire, aparently the WH7 can run 4 of thoes bulbs.

I am assuming red and yellow. and do I just cap off the other wires

StirCrazy 01-29-2004 01:57 AM

yes.. red to one end of the bulb, yellow to the other and capp off the rest of the reds.
