Does anyone know whats in the Aquarium Pharmaceuticals Tap Water Filters. I was curiouse if its just DI or if theirs other stuff in the cartrages to?

Aquattro 08-09-2011 05:33 PM

If it's the one I'm thinking of, just DI. I've recharged many of them over the years.

megs_clark 08-09-2011 05:47 PM

Thats great, I should save a bit doing it that way! Thanks

Aquattro 08-09-2011 05:49 PM

Recharging is messy, so I'd save up a few of them and do them together. Outside is best :)

Lol I will definitly do it outside if I recharge them. I think I have 4 cartriges already in the closet. I might just buy the refill bag off the bulk reef supply site though, still alot cheaper then buying the replacment cartrages. Ill have to google the recharging abit.

There is carbon of some sort as well....
There are two substances split up by a permeable membrane.

I separated the resins into anion and cation and kept them separate in the cylinders so I didn't have to separate them again.
I bought some used TWF's and put them in series with carbon filling the start of cylinder one to about half way, and then the anion filled the other half. The cation filled the second cylinder.
Actual proportions of a to c were about 1/3 to 2/3rds
