Reef safe?

Does anyone have any info on this type of crab? I bought it at my lfs as my wife reallllllllllly liked it since it looked like a anime "cartoonish" crab and was purple. The lfs had it labeled as a red spotted round crab and also said it was reef safe however I can find no information anywhere on the net about these types of crabs. The one I bought was the "smallest" one out of the 3 there and it was about 2" across. The largest one at the lfs was about 3 1/2"-4" across and was still very "cute" according to my wife, lol. I just want to make sure that it doesnt go around hunting my other inverts and making snacks out of my corals...

If nobody knows.. you'll be able to get it in herehttp://rmbr.nus.edu.sg/rbz/biblio/s17/s17rbz.pdf

300 page book though, so might take awhile to find. Should be able to get more info if you find the scientific name.

Good luck in your search.

Edit: it does look kind of like a 7-11 crab http://saltaquarium.about.com/od/cra.../pr711crab.htm

general rule is if it's a crab, it's no good. there are exceptions, but i've never seen a crab like that be any good!

I think they're sometimes called 7-11 crabs, but like all crabs they're always either caution or straight up not safe for inverts/fish. Even 'peaceful' types like emeralds can go rogue. The only one that is fine is a porcelain crab and that's because it's actually a shrimp (sorta).

SOB!

Found it hiding in a hole at the bottom of my rock pile with my strawberry snail in its grasp!

Now I have to either block it in the hole til tomorrow and hope it doesnt die before I can return it or pull all my live rock apart trying to get it out...! :censored:
