Need a good trick: Drill a hole

So i screwed up, i drilled a hole 1.25" for my mixing station but i actually need a 1.75". Now is there any easy trick to make 1.25" into 1.75"?

Drill a hole in some plywood then use the wood as a guide to drill in?

the problem is the hole is at the bottom of the barrel so i can't clam any wood to it

Take a piece of wood and drill a 1.75" hole in it, clamp it to the mixing tank some how so that it is centered over the 1.5" hole, slowly drill it out with lots of water. Made the same mistake and this is how I corrected it, it took long to drill the second size then the first.

EDIT: Brett beat me to it.

What is the barrel made of Tai?

It should be possible using the same technique as glass drilling. Glass drill bits don't have a guide. Start by holding the whole saw bit on an angle and grooving the barrel about 1/4" from the original hole. Slowly straighten the drill using the grove as the guide.

It might work?

got it working. I drill the guide on wood and then put it against the barrel with my two feets, the barrel is against the wall for leverage and slowly drill over top of the original hole.

Awesome! Thanks for all inputs and ideas. Cheers
