re silicone a tank
how do I take the glass apart? I will like to reseal my 40 gal breeder.
do I used some soft of solvent and soften the silicone? thanks Peter |
Peter, get a piece of wire and use it like dental floss, sliding it between the seams. Then use a lot of sharp blades to scrape off the remaining silicone.

yup that works great and then you can use friction and some rubbing alcohol to clean the glass and small amounts that couldnt get scraped:) a guitar string works great not the big one but the tiny little one :) |
You can get silicone remover from most hardware stores but it doesn't work very well, what was mentioned above is usually the best approach.

thanks for the tips. dsf
Looks like I am going to get busy this weekend. |
I'd be thinking about just cutting out the bead/fillet (not disturbing the silicone between the glass panes) and then lay a new bead.
