First 90Gallon mixed Reef
Well what started 1 year ago as a Christmas present from my lovely wife (14 gallon biocube) turned into what I have now...lol a beautiful 90gallon tank and not so impressed wife but she'll come around. Thought I'd share the start of my adventure with you. What I'm running is a drilled 90G drilled tank, 35G sump, coralife super skimmer 65, wavemaker 2 with koralia 4's (x2) and 2x 250Watt MH 10k currently but looking at 14500's. Pump return is a 1000GPH but thats too much flow for the sump so it's dialed down, and last but not least a poor mans chiller walmart special 16inch fan...lol. Here's some pics, in the last photo that's my temporary frag tank with all kinds of beauties. I'll shot macros of them later when i transfer to my reef tank. My tank is not against the wall as I plan on growing frags all along the outside walls with those magnetic frag plug holders and I wanted to enjoy my tank from all views.
Hope you enjoy and follow along. Cheers http://farm6.static.flickr.com/5302/...0277e4fce6.jpg 1st day by delo978, on Flickr http://farm7.static.flickr.com/6032/...fcd5543c09.jpg 1st day B by delo978, on Flickr http://farm4.static.flickr.com/3062/...9fb8981e83.jpg 1st day A by delo978, on Flickr |
Looks like you're off to a great start!

I forgot to add....if anyone has a suggestion on how i could add some blue lighting (actinic) I would be appreciative. I don't have room or really want to buy a 4' dual bulb T5 setup, I was thinking maybe some blue LED's or something but not sure on how to rig that in my setup.
|
I'd have to see the inside of the light housing, but you might be able to fit in a single 4' light bar with a T5. Should run you about 25 bucks for the strip, then whatever bulb you use.
|
looks like the canopy is made of tin or aluminum and the MH fans are mounted inside so I'm thinking of buying a T5 ballast 2x54watt drill out a hole and mount my dual 4' actinics. I figure since the plastic on the fans aren't melting the ballasts should be fine.

Thanks...lol love my ghetto frag tank cost about $20 to make less the pump and it's about 50gallon. Well I started transferring some corals and some fish and I'll keep you guys up to date with pics as I go. |
So just got back from Italy and here's updated pictures from 2 months later....I have many new additions so enjoy. I'll do some macro photography for each coral a little later on.
