Best place to buy live macro algae in Canada?
 

My new tank has a refugium and I'd like to culture species of macros that will be beneficial to my tangs when I harvest it. Indo-Pacific Sea Farms doesn't ship to Canada, is there someone comparable who does?

I should say, is there anyone in Canada or who ships to Canada who sells the other stuff Indo-Pacific sells? macros, live amphipods, invertebrate cultures? I'm planning on starting this tank off with dry rock and dead sand, I'm trying to find ways to inoculate it with the good stuff while keeping out the bad

Honey, Ive been looking for a few years now. The only one i have found that sells in canada is JLA and their selection is limited because of the seasons and there is a waitlist. Im on it. They do send you nice sized portions though and beautiful healthy plants. Also, the only other way Ive found is through other reefers on here. Other than that there is no way. But If you do find one, let me know. Im desperate for decorative macros.

as much as i don't like to support them. you can sometimes find chunks at big als in calgary.

Hey if you can't find any locally from a canreef member just talk to your local fish store (like one of our sponsors). I help the local store here do orders so I get to see the different lists. There are a few that have macros available. I know the cebu list has a bunch available so just ask if they get that list. Just remember some lists only come out every couple months so you may have to wait a bit and you may need a deposit. We just ordered some for the LFS. If they use the same transhipper you might be able to still get some ordered for july6 shipping. You would be surprised what is available to the stores. Lots of stuff you never see because there isn't a big market for it and they don't want to get stuck with stuff. Thats the stuff I like, oddball stuff that no one else has.

Ya, talk to Kevin, Adam...... we get the Cebu list...... Im sure he wouldnt mind bringing some macro in for ya next time we are in on the Cebu shipment(not sure if we are in on the July 6 shipment or not, or if you are ready for it).....

I talked to Kevin, he's going to bring in a bunch :) Thank goodness I bought a HOB fuge for my nano, I'll be able to culture it until the big tank is ready.
