120 gal with 54 gal sump on mainfloor???

I have an 9 year old house with silent floor engineered joists. Is putting 120 gal tank with sump on main floor a bad idea? I am going to put it against load bearing wall with beam and teleposts underneath (in basement). Any thoughts? Is this safe?

I would think you should be fine. My house is about the same age and I have my 190g with a sump about the same size as yours on my main floor. It's against a load bearing wall with the joists running perpendicular under it. It's been there for just over four years with no issues.

If the tank is on a load bearing wall then it should be perpendicular to the joists which is good. All together you're probably looking at about 2000lbs of dead weight which isn't that much provided the room with the tank is larger than 100 sqft and doesn't contain other aquariums.
