sand sifting sea star
just moved my tank its been reset up for a week and i have done the water change and checked all the levels( ph,kh,no3,amonna, and cal) anyway this morning my sand sifting sea star seems to be getting samller then i remember it being alot bigger, is it starving after the move i took all the live sand out and put most of if back.
wonding really what i can feed it or if i should just leave it alone? |
I've target fed a chocolate starfish before. Might help until you can find a solution to your problem.

Its probably starving to death. What you've described sounds the same as what happened when I tried one on my 120gal. The only tank I've seen in person to keep them alive for years was a 500gal. In every other case they only seem to last a few months before growing smaller, losing arms and disappearing. I'll never buy one or a linka again.

now i need to find someone with a 500gal tank.
i will try spot feeding it today and see if he goes for it. |
They require a very mature tank that has an aged sandbed, lots of live rock, and higher salinity 1.026 to survive.
Place it on an area that has a large detritus buildup. |
I've had one in my 265 for the better part of 18 months, he's nice and fat!
