I try to do this in my tank designs, but those tanks are absurdly nice.
http://reeftools.com/news/minimalist-aquascaping/ The only think is, you "lose" some space for corals (at least as the tank matures) ________ Live Sex |
those are beautiful tanks...wonder if that's possible on a Oceanic Illuminata with a center overflow....

I read through the entrie thread on RC, some impressive designs. I plan on going the same route on my next aquarium or when I move this aquarium too my new home next year.

The first tank started off with a good balance on the rock work, then $h1t hit the fan and now it's all Pokemon... JMO
The last one looks VERY promising. |
That makes me want to move some rock to my sump! Love the clean look.

I really like less rock AND less coral. That way the few colonies that a person picks can actually grow large and look more 'natural'... I've seen pictures on this forum of more specimens in a 20gal than what I have in a 120gal. This may or may not be a minimalistic aquascape, at this point I think its too grown-in to tell. But it is my favorite all time tank. 273gal with about 30 colonies. http://reefkeeping.com/issues/2006-10/totm/index.php
