Male adaptor into bulkheads
Hey all, has anyone ever had problems screwing in the male adaptor into there bulkheads? I'm running into the problem of them going in 3/4 of the way, but no further...any tips?
Thanks |

I've been using plumbers tape (teflon) on them, it actually makes them go in a little smoother... I wouldn't force it once it gets tight though, I've cracked a few bulkheads tryin to get them in all the way. |
Cool, thanks, I'll try some tape.

Teflon for sure, PVC into PVC is as sticky as aluminum on aluminum.

Also, there are different brands/types of fittings. Some are shiny, some have amatte finish, some are light grey, some are dark grey. It depends on where you get it from. I've had some that would only go in 1/4 of the way, and others that go all the way in.
So you may want to try another type of the same fitting. And no matter what type, you should alwayswrap some teflon tape around the threads for a better seal (I usually do at least 3 layers). |

do you think I got them in far enough? |
Pipe thread is tapered so the fittings should not go all the way in. This insures a tight fit and proper seal. If they go all the way in the seal may not be good and more Teflon should be used to compensate. Also don't over tighten as you can crack the bulkhead.

Thanks!
