Cyano in refugium?
i've got this red stuff growing on the glass of my refugium and thats the only place it grows.
its not coraline cuz it comes off easily. i've got very slow flow going through the fuge and about 15 hours of light a day (opposite of display tank) 6500K bulbs http://i579.photobucket.com/albums/s...4at82606PM.png any suggestions? |
Almost looks like red cotton algae, cayno is usually more of a film with bubbles.

Is it stringy, if so then yes it is cyano, scrape removing it not to give it a chance of growth as it will make it to your main tank.

its not stringy at all.... looks like regular film algae that grows on glass but its white |
Still think its red cotton algae
What kind of light are you running on the fuge? What spectrum of light is it? How old is the light ? I would try throwing a turbo in the sump to clean it up. If it is no where in your display but in that sump there is a problem in the area, either lighting, flow. Seeing it is in your sump with a powerhead i think the turnover will be sufficient. |
Did this turf algae start before or after you noticed your fish having minor ich?

light is 2 6500K CFL bulbs about a month old i think this stuff might have come in with the cheato i got from big al's |
Can u cut back to one bulb? It may just be still new tank, you are still cycling give it a little while after some water changes it should starve out. Are you running pellets or lith rocks or anything?
