Bubble Magus180-CS Cone Skimmer

Hey I purchased this skimmer, and it was working fine the first time I had it going, but then my sump cracked and had to replace the first sump with a way higher new sump tank. The skimmers suppose to sit in 9.5-11" of water. The baffles are about 13" inch so what I did was place the skimmer on some pegs that are about 2". So the skimmer is sitting at about 10.5-10 3/4". But the skimmer just keeps bubbling over and over and filling up the cup with water and mass amounts of bubbles within seconds. Ive tried toggling the little gauge down on the pipe (MAX, 5,4,3,2,1). But no matter what its on it will just keep flowing over.
Anyone have any ideas?
Maybe its still in too much water and I need a higher stand for it?

My first sump it was sitting in I believe 10"-10.5" and was working wonders.

I have mine on egg crate in about 8-9 inches of water, I have it at around 4 and it pulls nice dark icky stuff.

I find it overflows when it gets around 10 - 11 inch water mark

Doesn't seem to be too little water? How did you construct your eggcrate stand?

Mine also sits in around 8-9" of water & set at 4. I tried 10" of water at first but it didn't stop overflowing until I got the water level down to where it is now.

I just cut out squares that are a little bigger then the base and stacked them until I got the height I wanted easy'ish to add and remove

skimmer

Mine sits in about 9" of water and works great. Setting is almost at 3 most of the time. On occasion I need to dial it back a bit to 4 such as after a water change.

So go for about 8-9 inches of water? At about a 3-4 setting? What's the settings mean btw? Like a higher number is less water getting skimmed?

The higher the number the more water is being let out the back tube which is used to adjust the water level in the skimmer. So at 5 it is going to be as low as it can be and then getting close to 1 you are raising the water level in the skimmer body to its max.

I doesn't really have anything to do with the amount of water being skimmed just the water level in the skimmer itself.
