They're a neat idea, I don't know how I'd like it long term... Would probably be a LOT of work to keep clean!

the look pretty sweet. they just came out with a trimless version that does not have water pouring down the sides. I think there is a retailer (oakville reef gallery) that is the distributor.

I know people that have had them and have seen them in person. (They have since sold them.) They look really cool but...they are a lot of work!! You have to clean the outside as well as the indside of the glass all the time in order to keep the coraline and other aglea off them. Also, no way to keep fish from jumping out. Personally I would not have one. I use to want one but after hearing from and seeing others that have owned them, I have changed my mind.

cleaning the glass i figured would be hard but as for a top i imagine a handy fellow cold make a suspended lid mounted to the stand perhaps :)

great feedback thanks:)

Powerheads could be a possible issue as well, if one so choosed to add a little more flow.

well apparently with their new 3 sided version one side stays completely dry so one could add a vortech or some other powerheads or even install the tank as a penninsula.

shiver905 03-20-2011 10:39 PM

Powerheads are a problem beacuse it will push the water you want have even water pouring out of the tank.

In other words its useless in a reef aquaria.

reefwars 03-21-2011 12:20 AM

wouldnt say useless as most of the things i read on it are to do with reeftanks.....and being of acrylic i imagine one could drill through the bottom for more flow???
