"Real Reef" artificial live rock impressions and pics
We have been dealing with FHI's Real Reef rock for a few months now. We have been very pleased with the reception from reefers who are looking for an eco-friendly alternative to live rock. This rock is made with aragonite, and offers the buffering capacity of real live rock.
This is not the first liverock alternative on the market, but it does offer some key advantages over those products: -It's live! Real Reef rock is colonized with beneficial bacteria and coraline algae. While it's in our possession, we feed the live rock tank to encourage proliferation of the beneficial bacteria. -It's purple. The color doesn't seem to match common coraline algae exactly. It's not far off, but it's noticeable. Again though, when compared to the bleach-white liverock alternatives, it looks fantastic. http://www.blueworldaquariums.com/bl...f1-466x350.jpg http://www.blueworldaquariums.com/bl...f1-130x130.jpg http://www.blueworldaquariums.com/bl...f2-130x130.jpg http://www.blueworldaquariums.com/bl...f3-130x130.jpg http://www.blueworldaquariums.com/bl...f4-130x130.jpg http://www.blueworldaquariums.com/bl...f5-130x130.jpg http://www.blueworldaquariums.com/bl...f6-130x130.jpg http://www.blueworldaquariums.com/bl...f7-130x130.jpg http://www.blueworldaquariums.com/bl...f8-130x130.jpg http://www.blueworldaquariums.com/bl...f9-130x130.jpg |
The last shipment we received included their new shelf rock. Some of the pieces were HUGE.

Since we're the first store in Canada to have this product, I don't want to inadvertently set the pricing standard by announcing our prices on this board. I can tell you that we are selling the Real Reef rock for the same price as our Indo liverock. Sorry to be so vague! :) |
