Cleaning Old Tanks?

I'm setting up my old 50 gallon tank which was freshwater before.
There's this brown stuff dried onto the glass which I can't get off with water. Is there any SAFE cleaning agents that can get this off?

Thanks!

lol sam we both posted at the same time.....you don't have to get up early either do you...hehe

Define early.

I guess I don't.

I just tried the hot water method but didn't have a metal blade lying around so I just used a credit card.

Some of the stuff came off but there's still some really dried on stuff that doesn't wanna move.

yeah you need the safety razors

Hi Seth ,just my 2 cents worth. I have heard many times that the strong reducers in "CLR" (Canadian Tire etc.)work great against tough biofilm in old tanks. If you believe the TV ads you feel better and get better looking tooo.LoL
