Auto Top Off
I picked up a humidifier float for 10 bucks at home hardware with the intension of making an auto top off direct from the RO/DI. When the float drops, a rubber seal is opened up and water flows out. When the float moves up, it closes the seal. I thought about salt blocking it, but the fresh water should wash any salt away.
Has anyone set anything like this up? Any problems that you can think of? Cheers, Al |
Make sure you have one of thesehttp://www.jlaquatics.com/cgi-bin/sh...gno=ro-kpfshut And you may want to add an inline timer allowing only as much water as is needed per day before the RO unit. Otherwise in the event of a tank leak, you could be filling your tank with fresh water constantly. Or until you notice the leak.

I used a cheap plastic float in my sump, just gravity feed though for freshwater, no problems that I ever found.

Ditto what Jonathan and Doug said. But ditto also what Chris said, if you're going to hook the RO/DI unit right inline with it, you want some kind of shutoff (solenoid) on the inlet side of the RO/DI unit so that it's only on when it has to be.
