Sump support.
 

I grabbed a tank from a buddy that i am going to set up soon.
it has a metal stand that came with it. the stand looks like a box.


the tank Am planning to use as a sump is the same length as the stand.

so it sits with no support on the long sides. what is the best way to support the long ends. i think its 3/4 inch tubing.

I would prefer to keep an airspace underneath as well.

would a sheet of pine board or plywood, either treated or painted do the job?

how big of tanks are we talking about?

How about 2 pcs of 3/4" steel tubing cut to fit the inside length of the tank? Or you could use a couple of 1x4 or 1x2 pieces of lumber as the actual height is 3/4". You could cut out a piece of plywood to fit inside the bottom of your stand but I would still support it underneath with the 1x2's as even small sags can cause a tank to crack.

sump is a 33<36x12.5>
tank 50g and stand <36x18>

I have had the 33 in a few shabby setups in the past but nothing that just holds on the short edges. wood support is probably easier for me than metal.

you got that right unless your grizz and got a master welder cert. lol um id just say build a new stand that holds both properly im out in the garage tommorow building cabnets if you need guidance you have my number
