How to remove glass baffles
What would be the best way to remove baffles from a glass sump?
I have a broken side and end pane of 10mm glass on this 60 x 18 x 18 sump. There are 12 baffles inside some only 1/2 inch apart. I would like to rebuild this sump with a different baffle setup. Thanks, Mitch http://i724.photobucket.com/albums/w...m/IMG_3630.jpg |
Ew, that sucks! I had to remove a baffle to replace with a different height, and couldn't get mine out, so I used a hammer. :twised: You probably don't want to do that!

Fishing line works pretty good but a hammer is way quicker.

I sure don't want to use a hammer!
With the fishing line, could it go through 6 baffles at a time? I couldn't get to the bottom of each baffle space with the tight spacing. Mitch |
Wow, that is alot of baffles

+1 if you dont want the baffles use a hammer to break them, i also did that to a sump i didnt like the baffle placement in.be ginger though dont go nuts!!:):) |
Use a stick to get between the baffles?
Depending on the space between the glass, you might luck out and just use a razor. |
razors work or get the blades from like an exacto knife they work too

a LOT of patience!!!! I had to take one out cause of a design flaw.
I used a razor and slowly slid it between the glass and baffle. Took many tries to get it through. |
use the fishing line one at a time. Drop enough down the narrow side of the last baffle, pick it through from the side you have room on, and then floss away. Shouldn't take much to do it. Once you get one side removed, and exacto knife for the other as you bend the baffle out to the side. Repeat as needed
