Black Sponge
My tank is growing black sponge. Wondering how common it is.
http://i635.photobucket.com/albums/u...s/mushroom.jpg It can bee seen at the bottom of this rock and between the mushrooms on the top. |
OMG i love your mushroom rock. Never heard of black sponge though.
|
Are you able to get a better pic of that? Interesting.
|
I've got some black sponge (along with a whole bunch of other sponges I've never been able to ID). Mine kind of grows like a mat over the rocks. How about you?
|
i posted something somewhere sometime ago on a rock with black sponge and people told me not to worry
actually i think seahorsefanatic was the one that said hes seen it a few times and its not harmful. |
I've had some of the same black sponge before. Coincidentally it was also on a purple mushroom rock.
|
black sponge was the only thing I ever noticed my Blue Linckia eating.

They are quite common. I have black, yellow, orenga, white and pink sponges growing on my liverock.
They usualy start to grow after the aquarium as matured a bit and if there are enough nutriment in the water. Zeovit Sponge Power will help them grow. |
Here is a better picture of it.
