Question about hospital tank/fowlr at the same time.
Hey guys, Im curious if it would be ok to use a fowlr system as a hospital tank as well?
Why i ask this is because currently i have a 90 gal with a koran angel in it and a coral beauty angel, and they are eating my corals, so I am looking at buying a new setup and putting it in the basement and using it as a hospital tank where i could add copper to it and lower salinity to battle ich and such. My main question is would it be hard on the two angels to be in a tank that every couple months when i bought a new fish or had a sick fish to be treated with copper/lower salinity? Thanks a lot guys. Tony |
Not good, yes it would be hard on the fish to go through this every few months. Why not sell them if they are not suitable for your system?
If they are stuck in a QT anyway you won't see them much. Especialy copper is hard on the fish internal organ and stressfull. I would not submit fishes to this type of treatment over and over again. Hyposalinity is not as hard on the fish but each time you will put new fish in there you will run the risk of contaminating those 2 angels. Not good. Quote:

I am in my basement a lot as i have a theatre room setup down there also. I do not want to get rid of the fish if i dont have too so i was just curious if this would work, but I understand, thanks a lot.

Well especialy the copper treatment is hard on a fish and if you ever end up with velvet in your QT, you would risk losing those angels and see them suffer. When I do quarantine I try to expose just the new fish, nothing else.
