Vertex Illumina LED

So Spenser is tempting me with one of these new led fixtures.. It's pretty wicked in what it can do.. But can it grow corals? Does anyone have this light that can give me some feedback?

Youngster Dan 10-08-2010 12:56 AM

Do it Shelley! All the feedback I can give you is that it looks so cool :D

Borderjumper 10-08-2010 12:58 AM

Lol but it's gotta grow stuff as well as look wicked.. And I would probably have to give Spenser partial custody.. He's growing very attached to it

Well, I think you should try it out! If you don't like it you could always give it to me....

ya let me know too want to see if the Acans will grow

From what I remember reading some time ago about LED lighting is that they will keep corals alive but at a reduced rate of growth. Apparently they lack the UVA/UVB radiation output that the corals get from the sun and halide lighting and it is a factor in growth rates.

Well i get mine tomorrow i will let you know how it goes. Thedogfather has a very good post here and on reef central about it. He claims his corals are doing much better than his ati powermodule. Heres hoping
