Forum instructions

Hello ; Here is a real rookie question.
How do you use this bulletin board?
ie Whats a sticky,,..mIRC etc, a bump?
I can work the basics but surely there is a cheat sheet or something
with instructions somewhere (...eg whats a emoticon and how is it used,
correctly if possible).
A little info would spare me a lot of embarassment and lower the hassle
factor for other users. I don't think a book is needed but a few pointers would be apprieciated.
Thanks
John

Hi John & welcome :)
A sticky is a post (message) that always stays up at the top of the list. Most recent posts are added to the top and the older posts slowly migrate down the board until they roll off of the first page. An older post will revert back to the top again, if a reply is made to it. A bump acomplishes the same thing - it's an empty reply that bumps the old post back to the top - sometimes used when no replies were made to the topic or when someone wants to revive the topic.
I think mIRC is used for chat, where a bunch of members can "converse" back and forth in real time.
Emoticons are those smiley faces (found left of the message reply box). You just click on one and it's automatically entered into your message.
Also, to the right of your screen, look for Forum Tools and then FAQ - this should help answer other stuff.
HTH,
~Tamara

John, welcome to canreef.Looks like Tamara has beat me to the answers. Don't worry too much about embarrassing yourself, it's kind of a theme here  Hope you enjoy the board!!
