Ad Aware Question
I use Ad Aware 6.0 and have a question; do I delete the ignore list or does that keep those items from getting on my computer in the future? Also, should I delete the quarrantine list?
|
Just out of interest, are you using Kazaa?
|
Troy, I never have nothing in my ignore list. I delete my quarantine list, every so ofter, when I remember.

Another good one to use in addition to Adaware is Spybot Search and Destroy ... it will catch stuff that Adaware does not get and best of all it is completely Free ( you can donate to the author if you find it usefull which I am sure you will )
Do a google search and try it out. Cheers |
How many of you folks use Kazaa?

Thanks everyone, thanks Steve, I'll try that.
Quinn, I used to use WinMX and Andrew (our own CanadaWest) advised against it and installed Kazaa Lite for me. At the time he advised against Kazaa as well, the reason being; too much spyware! |
I have not run into a computer yet that has Kazaa on it and no rampant ads/popups and so on. I truly believe that Kazaa is the source of most people's problems, ie. programs installing themselves, homepages and toolbars being changed, etc. The combination of Kazaa and Windows XP is lethal. Along with that, I don't trust any piece of free software. Even those ad elimination programs - I know there's a catch, and I think a lot of the time they create the ads themselves. I personally stay away from all that free junk. I use IRC to get media and even though I'm using WinXP, I've NEVER had an ad pop up.

I use WinMX also and never had a problem ... as to popups ... Spybot and Adaware are more for dataminers and such and not necessarily or popups ... I dont use Kazaa Lite because it is notorious for spyware ... apparently there is a way to disable the spyware on Kazaa Lite but why bother when there is WinMX ?
